I don't look at them as stupid whataboutisms so much as context.
The question remains, what is the statute of limitations on colonial era crimes?
Many of the anti-Zionists on this board undoubtedly live on land stolen from Indians. They prosper in an economy whose foundation was formed on the backs of slaves. And they're descended from European countries who brutalized indigenous people for gold and sugar and whatever else. All cool, let bygones be bygones.
Who, exactly, are these people to cop an attitude about Israel? It was ok for everyone else to do it, but once Israel does the same, to a much lesser degree, it's a war crime? It was fine for Muslims to conquer their way up into Spain, for King Leopold to claim 1 millions square acres in Congo for his personal use? For Germany to do their original Holocaust in SE Africa? The British Crown used to own 1/6 of the land on the planet, their remorseless royals are still living it up on interest from capital accrued from slave plantations. Fine for the US military to napalm Vietnamese (to what end exactly), overthrow elected governments in various countries (the Dulles Bros) and pointlessly invade Iraq?
And there's never been any accountability for any of it. Why exactly was it ok for the US to invade Iraq but not ok for Israel to invade Gaza (after they were attacked)? Explain. And if it was not ok for America to invade Iraq how is it that we've all seemed to have forgotten about it. So I guess we'll all forget about Israel invading Gaza in 20 years, too. 18 years after WWII ended, JFK pronounced, "ich bin ein Berliner" Think about that.
Either you have no sense of historical relativity or you're just single mindedly anti-Israel. That's why I keep bringing up Australia, to remind you that you're just as fucked up as everywhere else and your opinions about Israel's supposed crimes against humanity have no moral standing and are hypocritical.
I doubt very much you pored through all my posts looking for all my criticisms on America. Or you missed them, but I'm not searching through them all, that's for sure. Offhand, I can remember several back and forths about segregation's remnants but that's as hard as I'm going to try.
