Where my hillbilly at?
[...]Is J.D. Vance the Worst Vice Presidential Pick Ever?
[...]Vance may be a mediocrity, but Hillbilly Elegy reveals his one true, God-given talent: exploiting his own impoverished background to tell elites precisely what they want to hear, allowing him to elide the fact that he didn’t actually understand or, for that matter, care about the people he was writing about. As the 2016 campaign unfolded, and anxiety about Trump’s hold on the GOP grew, Vance was celebrated not just as a kind of white-trash prophet—he was at the time a principal at Peter Thiel’s V.C. firm Mithril Capital—but someone who could lead the Republican Party out of the darkness. As the election neared, he sharpened his criticism of Trump: The hillbilly soothsayer called the GOP nominee a charlatan, a sexual assaulter, an American Hitler. When the GOP collapsed after Trump inevitably lost to Hillary Clinton, he would be well positioned to pick up the pieces.
P - There was just one problem: When Election Day came and Donald Trump won, it became abundantly obvious that Vance—the go-to explainer of his rural appeal—never actually understood the new president’s hold over his voters. Vance’s carefully plotted rise to prominence had appealed to the wrong elites. With Trump’s hold on the Republican Party secure and with the GOP enjoying control of all three branches of government, the elites Vance had impressed were of no use to him.
P - And so he began another metamorphosis. Over the next eight years, Vance grew more and more Trumpian:

Hide Your Sofas & Loveseats, It’s JD Vance!
[...]Now, word on the street is Off-Brand Orbán has come down with a severe case of Hillbilly Buyer’s Remorse, since he almost certainly had the MRA vote sewn up already, “with the rapes, right?” as the polls tighten and the narrative slips through the abovementioned baby fingers.

Donald Trump and the GOP have alienated "one of the largest voting blocs" in the country by standing by Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance's allegedly sexist comments about women, according to former Obama campaign advisor Ameshia Cross.

Cross, who recently said she believes that "DEI" is just a "pseudonym" for racial slur, appeared on MSNBC on Saturday to discuss the latest attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, who is likely to become the Democratic nominee in the upcoming general election.

The host said that "many attacks on Harris are focusing on race and gender and not bearing children, and asked, "Are these attacks backfiring and how do Democrats combat them while refusing to give them oxygen?"

Cross replied, "I don't think you can refuse to give them oxygen in America where over 60% of women under 40 do not have children and many do not plan on it."

"The other part is that we have a significant segment who are having fertility issues and you have a Republican party that's also pushing against in vitro," she added. "A party who is saying if you do not have children as a woman, you should not even be able to vote because you have no understanding of or no real value in the future of America."

She continued:

"That's a problem and that's not only extremely offensive as somebody who does not have children, mind you, I also don't have cats but it's a situation where they've made their bed and they have to lie in it," she said. "And the fact that the Republicans have essentially always had a problem with women, to dig their heels in deeper when women are one of the largest voting blocs in the country, it's a fatal mistake for the Republican party."
