This article in Nature is pretty good, but a bit deeper in the weeds for most people's digestion.

Doesn't really give a good accounting on how COVID-19's progression has gone into winter of 2024 as well as in other countries that now are in Winter.

So it is unclear, but if Covid-19 was still as virulent as the original virus I think we'd see many, many sick and dying people. As, much less are vaccinated now.
