#478634 RE: zab #478629

It's not like I don't feel for the people out there. West Virginia has been raped by out of state coal interests far a century and a half at least. Coal isn't the job creator it used to be, and even when it was, it was dangerous, filthy work, done by people who died young and miserably.

But every time you try to help, they kick you in the dick. Then they complain that no one wants to help.

Kaman Aerospace was a local industry here. (Charlie Kaman was a local guy.) They're not local anymore, but they have facilities world-wide. They make helicopters, and they made Ovation guitars. I think Fender bought the guitars, but Kaman's still huge.

So back in the 80s I think, Kaman opened a manufacturing facility down in North Carolina, and a friend of mine went down there to help train the workforce. He said all they did was stand around snickering and calling him Yankee Doodle. Y'know? What are you supposed to do when that entire region of the country both needs your help and despises you?

This was the Ovation crew in Moosup.

Seriously. How much of that are we supposed to take?

I appreciate the thought on the beer though.
