Time to cut back on the stock market, with trump the nominee for the republican party, there is a segment of America that truly wants to burn down the country. President Biden has done his very best to bring America back from the covid virus. Just like when President Obama brought the country back from the Republican led financial meltdown of 2007-08.
Republicans want to burn down the country, and democrats want to build it up. Republicans think that when democrats work at bringing equality to all Americans that that is a threat to them. Democrats did bring up wages in this round, and that is a good thing, when republicans made 8 trillion out of thin air and put it into the economy that distorted everything.
There was some inflation, and the American consumer had to navigate higher numbers. They did have higher wages, but someone forgot to tell them with extra money you still have to spend wisely.
I thought China might do a financial stimulus to get their economy a jump start, but they did not. That will keep oil prices tame for now, but everyone must remember China does not produce much oil and must buy on the open market. When that demand comes back, it will raise oil prices. Something to consider going forward.
Canda has also dropped America as a good trading partner and allowing America to buy cheap Canadian Oil. Once again Canda learned from the trump days that we are not a country to be trusted. Canada will now sell that extra oil on the open market and give themselves a few extra dollars per barrel. Something to consider going forward.
America might lead the world in oil production, but those producers have no love of country, they sell to the highest bidder.
Buying a home in America is hard, and not just for interest rates, scarcity for one, and lack of land near cities. Even here in Chattanooga TMHC is the newest entry in these mass-produced homes. It is called Anchor Point. At one time maybe 50 homes were placed on this parcel, now anywhere between 750-1000 dwelling will be on it. I am not sure what the final number will be, but it is huge, and it is just one of many under construction here in Chattanooga. There are many of these complexes being built.
The traffic is bad enough, and it will get worse. I know I am nearing my twilight years, but America keeps moving faster, and they do it by becoming more condensed.
Dumped my positions this morning, unemployment numbers this Friday, and if they are anything like all of these numbers, I expect it to be strong. Another reason to keep interest rates high. By the way between 1971 and 1991, interest rates were always over 6 percent, and many times they were much higher than that. America just got use to zero percent interest rates when we had to deal with the financial meltdown of 2007-2008. That will not happen again, well in my lifetime.
Errand day, last week all three bathrooms were upgraded in the house, those fixtures in the toilet always need to be replaced every decade, and I have been in this house for 24 years. Some days I miss my cabin in the woods, but that was a very long time ago.
