Interesting B4, looks like you aren't the only Independent, Repug or Dem looking at these things

Did you read the rest of that article? - the title doesn't do justice; half way down you get:

One thing that doesn’t get mentioned is that if you look at the very bottom of the list, say the bottom 20 districts on the list, Democrats represent 13 of them. So Dems still have a slight edge at the very bottom of the median income but not nearly as dramatic as the advantage they have at the top.

Rep. Kaptur has been showing the chart to her Democratic colleagues and she says they often get very quiet.

“There’s an elitism that pervades when you have wealth,” she added.

Kaptur has given a version of the chart to President Joe Biden, and says she presented the document to members at a recent caucus meeting. According to her, Democrats ranging from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries down to rank-and-file lawmakers are often taken aback by the visual.

“And then they’re quiet, and they just study it,” she said. “I don’t know where it takes us, except I hope to a more enlightened future.”

They’ve become the party of the elite or at least of the successful upper middle class. What does this do to all of their past rhetoric about the 99%, income disparity and wealth inequality? Do they still care about those things now that their voters appear to be the ones benefitting?

There is a caveat here. Just because Democrats represent top earning districts doesn’t mean that all of the wealthy people in those districts voted for Democrats. Insider points to some 2020 exit polling which seems to show that Biden won among voters making less than $100,000. Trump won among those making between $100,000 and $200,000 and those making above $200,000 were evenly split.

So the picture gets more complicated the closer you look. It may be that even in districts with high median incomes team blue does slightly better among those who are below the median while team red does slightly better with those above the median. Still, Democrats clearly have a significant edge in those top 100 districts (nearly 70%), enough so that the more successful Republican leaning voters are overwhelmed in most cases.

It’ll be interesting to see how Democrats market themselves in light of this information. They were always the party of the downtrodden and those in need of government help. Now they seem to be the party of the better off. This is so contrary to their self-conception that I’m not surprised many of them react to Rep. Kaptur’s list by going silent.

Kiss my ass, President Biden walked a picket line with the auto workers, and Republicans were having a shit fit. How dare you endorse unions. Republicans hate the working class, the democrats have always been for the. Excuse me, ever since 1964 when the political parties began to transition. Ronald Raegen put the nail in the coffin of working American when he fired the air controllers, after that, the democrats were the only ones who cared about the American working class.

So yet another Dems dis Dems dat rant from you that completely ignores the GOP's responsibility for the recessions and the shit new job creation on their watches, both of which hit the middle classes the hardest. You've read those stats often enough, but they just don't register with you.

The Dems have won the popular vote in consecutive votes for president since '08 and those aren't all elitist votes by a longshot.

Do you know what the GOP is running on this year? Me neither.

How are they going to win enough of the women's vote with their disastrous abortion policies in so many states?

Simple, they're not. They've written that vote off through their words and actions.

Your rants leave so much out that they're meaningless.

B402, While the Dems have not been able to accomplish all they hoped for it is still, i believe, disingenuous to suggest the equivalence you do between the two parties.

"Back to the excesses of the progressives, and the way parties pander to their base....Once upon a time in a America the dems were the working and middle class best friend.....Now they represent the 9 out of 10 richest districts and 69 out of the top 100...... "

Ok, as you've seen that still doesn't mean all those in those districts vote for Democrats. And why didn't you also state that Dems have an edge in the lower income districts also.

.."So Dems still have a slight edge at the very bottom of the median income but not nearly as dramatic as the advantage they have at the top.

You didn't it seems because your agenda is to be anti-Democrat, and in so being to actually work against the values you claim to stand for.

@SEMPER_The_Book

Every now and then, I come across a Trump supporter who can't understand why the rest of us despise them. While 'despise' may be too strong a word for some, and apt for others, for the purposes of this post, I'll use that word.

Now, we don't despise you for being conned out of millions, for giving what little you have to this self-proclaimed billionaire who doesn't even like you. If this were his only flaw, we'd simply despise him and merely pity you.

We despise you because Trump is a wannabe-dictator and admitted sexual predator – "grab them by the pussy," and still you support him.

We despise you because he spits on our military and Gold Star families, and all those who gave their lives for this nation, and still you support him.

We despise you because he politicized COVID, spewing dangerous misinformation while hundreds of thousands of Americans were dying, because he placed immigrants in cages, separating children from their mothers – those just longing for a better life, and still you support him.

We despise you because he idolizes tyrants, like Putin and Kim Jong, favoring the former over our own intelligence agencies, because he insults and threatens his rivals and those who hold him accountable, because he stole classified documents and refused to return them, all the while sharing national security secrets with others, placing our country at risk, and still you support him.

We despise you because he tried to overturn the will of the people, calling the insurrectionists patriots and hostages, because he steals and lies, he takes and takes, and gives nothing in return, while you rationalize and dismiss his every transgression.

We despise you because you've shamed our country, divided this nation, made us a laughing stock all over the world, choosing ignorance over knowledge, rhetoric and propaganda and lies over facts. And the only reason you love him, you prop him up like the second coming of Christ, is for that common thread you share with him – the hate he harbors for all those you hate. And this is why the rest of us despise all of you. That, and because most of you are just twats.
