It was in the Pharmaceutical industry, and after more reading, that verdict was reversed on appeal. There are two other $2 billion verdicts, one in the high tech, chip industry and another Pharma, they are both recent.
I am glad you are optimistic, I am only saying that when the numbers get that big and things tend to go to "all or nothing" people get pragmatic very quickly.
What you are describing with fifty or so other infringers could have the attorneys working at this for decades to come, which seems to be the strategy of the infringers in general.
I hope I am wrong and that VPLM can get to a $5 to $50 billion dollar "payout" in the next year. Where we differ is that I won't consider it a failure if the payout, not judgement and award (which can be appealed for years to come), is $1+ billion and it comes soon, or at least creates a true market for the stock where a 5 million share trade doesn't cut the stock price by 60%.
