Those increments are permanent changes now.
I agree. In some cases it helps and in others it slows things down, overall averaging out.
New York, NY, July 6, 2006 -- Beginning Tuesday, July 11, Pink Sheets will apply quote increment tier sizes to all Pink Sheet quoted securities, as follows:
For quote prices above $1, a quote tick size of 0.01
For quote prices at or below $1 but above $.10, a quote tick size of 0.005
For quote prices at or below $.10 but above $0.005 a quote tick size of 0.0005
For quote prices at or below $0.005 a quote tick size of 0.0001
A Quote Increment Tier Pilot Program was initially implemented for securities with trading symbols beginning with the letters A - D in February 2006. Pink Sheets then modified the tier sizes on June 16th based on feedback received from the marketplace.
After an analysis of trading activity during the pilot period, Pink Sheets, with the assistance of Professors Christie and Bollen of the Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, determined that the tier sizes listed below has not created any degradation in market quality. Thanks to all who have participated and commented during the pilot period.
