The Australian Pink Floyd Show

They're calling themselves Aussie Floyd, but it's the same band. They were unbelievably good. I'd see them again. It looks like their repertoire is a lot more extensive than what you can hear in a 2 hour show. I listened to some of their older stuff on youtube, and the vocals are much improved since then.

I was never a big fan of the cover band idea, but a musician friend point this out to me. If no one's doing your music when you're gone, what did you accomplish?

The bands we grew up with are aging... There's nostalgia in seeing an Aerosmith or Jethro Tull, I've seen them each six or seven times, but they're a shadow of themselves. In a lot of cases, like Yes for instance, the original players are largely gone. I was a big fan of Glenn Tipton and KK Downing in Judas Priest, possibly the best guitar team I've ever seen, but Tipton has Parkinson's now and can't play... and Downing's not with the band anymore either. And if the old timer's are still touring the cost is forbidding. Tool is worth seeing, probably one of the most important bands of the past 25 or 30 years if you ask me, but tickets appear to be starting at $400... so no, I guess.

Anyway, if you have some time to listen... these selections are current.
