NTEC partners on lithium mining project near Wikieup for 2023
WIKIEUP — Arizona Lithium Limited and Navajo Transitional Energy Company last week announced a partnership to support development of the Big Sandy Lithium Project off U.S. Route 93 near Wikieup.
The project includes 331 Bureau of Land Management Claims on 9.6 square miles of land. According to a news release from the companies, the lithium is “easily accessible for extraction.” Lithium is a key mineral for the transition to clean area as a key component in batteries that power electric cars.

The Official Opening / Ribbon Cutting event will be attended by Federal and State government officials as well as economic development officers in Arizona. The Arizona Commerce Authority is the event’s official Partner. Key industry leaders, such asMr. Joe Lowry, will be in attendance, as well as senior investment bankers, Engineering faculty from Arizona State University and other important stakeholders. The Research Centre is focused on technological advancements in lithium processing and will advance the battery materials industry in Arizona. The property spans over 9,700m2, including a building of over 1,900m2, with 3,000m2 of pavement protected by security gates and a brick wall. The building has a 370m2 research laboratory and a 1,530m2 processing facility for lithium chemicals, with a 7 metre clearance.
