Blue, I only found a little to celebrate in this PR. Given KBLB’s situation, hiring someone with experience in sericulture was a good move, just long overdue. This increases the chances that KBLB will succeed.
It looks like it will take 2 months to straighten out the problems with the breeding population at KBLB. From there, KBLB will develop its 4-hybrid silkworm lines. After that, KBLB will need to produce enough eggs to send 4 healthy colonies over to Vietnam.
The only way I can read this is: “Nothing until 2024.” There is a chance that the new hybrid lines will be delivered to Vietnam later this year, but production won’t ramp up until next year.
Kudos for Thompson in recognizing he was in over his head and finding someone with the expertise needed to help him out.
