Fried chicken. Jay cooks his the good old fashioned way -in bacon grease, Yes- it's very tasty, but my brain will not allow me to eat it. I bake or grill mine. This week's beer is Sierra Nevada's Hoptimum. It's about as far from Bud Lite as you can get. But- I've never liked any Bud - has nothing to do with any sponsorship.

I worried not a whit about foods fried or otherwise well into my 50's, early 60's. Seriously bad lipid tests, and family history, taught me to modify my diet. I prescribe neither food nor drugs to anyone.

And coating skinless chicken with olive oil before cooking healthily seals in the juices.

Key takeaways:

Regularly eating fried foods is associated with a higher risk of developing heart problems.

Fried foods are high in saturated fat and trans fat, so they promote plaque buildup in arteries that can put you at risk for coronary artery disease, heart failure, heart attack, and stroke.

There are small steps you can take to make fried foods healthier or to help limit them altogether.
