And I used an IBM 360. A long time ago. Punch cards. Fortran IV.

"What kind of mainframe?" I probably phrased it wrong.
The hardware was an IBM 360 (if I remember correctly).
The operating system was MVS/TSO.
My coding was mostly in COBOL, IMS, and Focus (quick hit reports and data dumps).
Maintenance of ancient systems.

When it comes to this stuff, I'm a shallow dilettante. I learn on a need-to-know basis. Never had any interest in it just needed a job with a pension and 401K. Spent 21 years in Manhattan dinking around in the arts (theatre and publishing). Woke up in middle age realizing I needed an adult job. Little did I know the timing was perfect. Y2K was looming. Companies were desperate to upgrade code. Retrained as a COBOL programmer (not bad for an English major) and sacrificed 21 years of my life to the torture chamber known as corporate life. (I am NOT a team player and am a generalist in a world of specialists.) Retired in December of 2016 and have managed to blank out most of that time period.

Just call me Miss TMI. And I'd better stop with my off topic posts before the hammer comes down hard.
Have a good one, Homebrew.
