Interesting topics here. When I moved to Los Angeles in the mid 70s, I lived in an old apartment bldg in Hollywood, behind Graumanns Chinese Theater. In its day it was quite grand. My 4th floor studio apartment had french windows that overlooked the west hills. There was an elderly couple, late 50s early 60s age range, that lived in front of my apt. They looked like anybody's aunt and uncle types or grandparents. They wrote the storylines for adult magazines. We could hear their manual typewriter tic tic ticking as they wrote their next story. I live in the Midwest now because it's affordable in retirement. The people here are real basic and not that Interesting. I liked the characters you meet in larger cities but it's so expensive to live in major metro areas now and the west coast is overrun with homeless and the corresponding issues.

There is a lot of lakes, ponds, swampy area down there. One time we were golfing and I smack the ball down the fairway and over a hill. When drove up over the hill there was a small lake and my ball was 15 yards from the lake with a perfect shot to make over the lake and on the green. BUT there were about 5 gators laying there in the sun about 10 yards form my ball. My buddy said to drop him off at his ball and I can go over there to hit my ball. I looked at him like he was crazy and said there is no way in hell I'm going over there to hit a $3 golf ball. They can have it and I'll drop one here with yours. He thought that was the funniest thing. Being from Ohio we see a raccoon, possum, or a deer once in a while but never a gator...
