If one was going to speculate on what might be, I would guess that the coroner would use this tool along with other forensic sciences to profile a victim. This could be used in the Green River case here in Washington.
If a bone was a certain size and condition they could determine age. With DNA they could determine race and eye color and maybe a probable hair color.
All pieces of a puzzle, and valuable even if there is a small lack of accuracy in hair color.
