How do you infer that I don't think there is a mental health crisis? That people don't seek out help seems to be the bigger crisis. In any case you can't legislate people to be mentally healthy, you can legislate sensible gun laws to limit availability of weapons to those people. Which Party doesn't agree with that?

Why that would be, surprise, the magical thinking thoughts and prayers Party.

Facts, data, logic, analysis — do they play any role in what our government decides? The Republican Party in particular no longer listens, or thinks. It is owned — lock, stock, and barrel — by the gun industry.

You might think that preventing young children from being murdered in random mass killings by assailants with assault weapons would be a goal shared by all lawmakers. But you’d be wrong.

The Assault Weapons Ban must be reinstated — the greed of gun manufacturers be damned.

Pushing the transgenderism to kids is fostering mental illness and developing more mental health issues for the future. If everyone says that a mental illness should be accepted and encouraged, society becomes part of the problem. I saw someone the other day with a "Protect Trans Kids" T-shirt on. Had a short conversation when I said I agreed with her shirt, she smiled and said thanks.

But when I told her that I wished someone had protected my sister from her regretted decision to transition, she walked away.

She probably thought it would be best not to confront the problem she is contributing to. She feels good about herself for helping confused kids in puberty. Heaven forbid she acknowledge the facts--transgenderism exists and should not be denied. And those suffering with it should not be hated. But it is an overboard response to change the English language with pronouns and threats to those who do not want their kids to be introduced to gender fluidity before or in the middle of puberty.
