When speech became money under Citizen's United via the conservatives, what were the Democrats supposed to do? Fall silent? I would call many of the beefs aired as a conservative's interpretation and inability to adapt to new political playing field. The conservatives enjoyed an advantage and it was countered. Not all that complicated once you accept that it was the new playing field that caused much of the change.

This is the key takeaway, unsurprisingly it's not all or nothing, black or white.

Business is aligned with Republicans when it comes to taxes and regulations because … well, profit. And business is aligned with Democrats on social issues that its customers and employees care about because … well, profit.

That said, if the Dems have abandoned the middle and working classes why then have the corporations aligned with the Dems on....social issues? Because the Dems remain the only game in town on social issues like infrastructure, health care, SS, Medicare, science?

Can't wait for the GOP to twist itself in knots, cry crocodile tears, over 'preserving' SS and Medicare, while proposing increasing eligibility ages. The working class....miners, construction workers....will be thrilled to learn that they will have to flog their earlier 'sell by date' bodies just a bit longer to qualify for benefits.
