I think Intel has already done this:
Looking at the gap between Intel's mobile pricing and AMD's, I'd say that Intel has a lot of room to lower prices to compete for share.
They have introduced the NEW pentium line for notebooks. I suspect they have very similar price/performance to AMD, while allowing the premium Centrino / Core 2 duo combination for the high end.
Well, actually, they have not introduced it yet, but the notebooks are everywhere. Just look for the Pentium 2060. It will be interesting to see where it is priced at when they finally introduce it:-)
