They are not asylum seekers. They are migrants wanting to leave a country that does not work and go to a country that works. How many "asylum seekers" are there wanting to migrate to the US? Do you have any idea? Millions want to come here. With our present system, we offer healthcare, shelter, education and jobs. And the first three cost us taxpayers actual cash-- in the form of a rising debt that involves annual debt service.
Meanwhile, US citizens on Social Security are strapped to maintain a lower standard of living.
I understand the concept of compassion. But I also understand the concept of fairness to those who pay the bills. This invasion cannot be sustained.
What do you "Progressives" propose to do about the annual multi-million person influx? Let it continue? Just legislate funding to pay for hotel rooms, medical care etc. for the wave of migrants that will be never ending?
