gfp: China plays the long game. The US plays the short game. Our "leaders" base their decision making on the here and now and up until the next election cycle. Look at our present situation. If a group of evil people wanted to basically bring down the country what exactly would they do differently than our present group of liars and corrupt hucksters. Fiat currency as a worldwide medium of exchange is coming to an end. Valery Giscard d'Estaing, the former French Minister of Finance in the 1960s once called the Dollar as the world's reserve currency being an "exorbitant privilege" for America. Well, we wore out that privilege and then some. And now that some of the rest of the world has been figuring out how to bypass SWIFT the need to hoard Dollars to conduct international commerce is becoming a thing of the past. We pushed the rest of the world around a tad too much. And the push back is happening now and we will reap the disastrous economic consequences of our 50 years of economic stupidity.
