Will they, and for how long? That's the question. It's apparent that for Ruiz it's more like machismo than anything else. Will he BK the co. or be kicked out? Already, people on the IV AMD board are calling for his resignation...
You are *almost* there, Smooth. AMD may be realizing that their orders are dropping off (hence, the price drops), but they really don't have a choice, now that their capacity is online. Stopping now would leave them in a very expensive undercapacity situation. They may have to continue cutting prices until they find buyers for their parts. And from their perspective, every time Intel follows with price cuts, it "forces" them to cut even further. Nevermind the fact that it was their strategy to build all this capacity in the first place....
