AMD's customers may be saying this to AMD in the form of, "If you had more capacity, I would support a larger range of AMD based products," but in the end, the consumer decides what they will purchase. I have said for a long time now that AMD underestimates Intel's competitiveness with Core 2. They have made countless promises that they are already falling to deliver. Like the analysts, they are assuming that the world is demanding AMD parts like they were 12 months ago when Intel was at their weakest. And I think the penalty for this bad assumption will come in the form of many bad quarters to come for the rest of the year. AMD will need to be at least as far ahead of Clovertown with Barcelona as they were ahead of Paxville with the Italy core, if they want to continue gaining share without competitive consequences.
