I think I had lighting fast 500 something baud with my snazzy two cup phone modem (no princess phone there) that came with my Texas Instrument TI-994A in 82' 83' with an astounding and immense 32MEG hard drive in it's own 18 inch wide box. Or maybe that was the memory. I'll have to dig it out now and see if it boots up. Zork was the hot title.

Throw that sucker on a tv and you got 256 color ... zork text. Then the game modules started.

There was 110 baud before that! I have a teletype with paper tape reader/punch still in the basement with the old modem.
