That was very good, thanks. Like you Shermer and Dawkins were very generous in fielding questions from the audience about a subject they were reluctant to discuss but not for any partisan reasons for the most part (other than a bias away from things tainted by Christian and Conservative shade or tone [rabbit/black hole]).
Shermer's essay was how JP's science was solid but didn't hesitate to clearly state JP's more abstract explanations that took "40 pages or minutes" remained unclear ie:
If you can't explain something concisely it may mean you don't understand it well.
Like Dawkins says..., JP doesn't grab me, is all.
Actually, I didn't hear him say that and further he said clearly
"I don't offer opinions on things (or people) I'm ignorant of"

Agree on the that's enough JP for now. In my case it's because I have a better understanding of the man's appeal and where he is lacking in appeal - both of which I can agree with;
As a compassionate and skilled psychologist he seems to help a lot of people
And, from a rigorous examination of (his/the) science get's respect from peers.
His Christian Conservative bent also get's wide appeal I'm assuming and knowing What that can translate into in the final analysis aka a mean spirited Trump Bowel Movement is wholly unacceptable.
More important is where those inconsistencies lie and should be debated fiercely
Not worrying if you hurt someone's feelings, allegiance or who they're favorite guru tu jour is or isn't (read: absent of reason and logic - ie hypocrisies. When people don't answer a question - that is an answer).

So what tune came to mind?.. Poptones by Public Image
Ignoring the literal inspiration of the song as told by J. Lydon
The tone of it with it's moving melodies and choice of words has always meant to me
That to be explored, thought experiment and critical thinking
The moods and tones of which that separate us from robots lolz..
Thanks/Enjoy!
