You did many of the things we all thought about, even my brother once thought I would board a tramp steamer to someplace. When I finally graduated college and was still kind of wondering what to do in life, that was one of the suggestions. Of course, after many beers, you think and talk about a lot of things you could do. Instead, I just went right back to work in a Sectional Center in Yonkers, New York unloading mail trucks all night long.
I always needed money, so I always ended up working jobs that went nowhere but paid well. I would look out of the truck bay at the Sectional Center and dream about many things, you had to, there were so many trucks waiting to be unloaded each night. One night one of the guys told me to slow down, and I said hey let's just get it done. He said look around the corner, there must have been 100 trailers waiting to be unloaded.
I only did that job for nine months before I got a better job, with better pay, and better hours.
