Adults who have received PCV13 only are recommended to receive a dose of PCV20 at least 1 year after the PCV13 dose or PPSV23 as previously recommended to complete their pneumococcal vaccine series.

PPSV23, Merck's polysaccharide vaccine, is not nearly as immunogenic as you know so cannot compete. However MRK does have a 21 valent conjugate vaccine in phase 3 which could post a real threat down the road (reads out mid year 2023 per clinicaltrials.gov)
