Sorry to inform you that I went to a pretty good private school on the north side of Chicago. When growing up I was always interested in politics. Why the ward committeeman and alderboob, again for you Chicago people, would always ask who people voted for before rushing out to, for example, change a street light that is out in front of your house. That was good ole machine politics back, at least when I was young, in the 60s and many years before. Yes, it has changed a lot since the Daley Machine was around. But, politics, both sides, are still as corrupt but in different ways.
Oh boy a "link". Read the book "Boss" by Mike Royko for a little insight to some good ole fashioned Chicago politics.
Lastly on this, I even went door to door handing out flyers for the local Democratic nominee way back when. Who have thunk (no spelling error) it.
