Maybe Republicans have no issues to run on so they make them up, twist them just enough to motivate their base of the crazy few who go out and create some chaos that gets news coverage. No one really cares about the substance of education being taught, they are looking for that quick sound bite. A rallying cry to broadcast over and over, that creates the problem that the right then uses to say all of America needs to throw out books, and only teach in school what they feel should be taught.
