Remodeling/updating is a basic retail marketing tool. Well refreshed stores add chatter and customers. The grocery biz has known this for a long time. Lessons learned being applied to a growth forward (pun intended) space. Costs minimal, returns outsized. When the direct competition is not able to do basic things like remodel in a soft market it often results in their loss of market share ...and when it begins to steepen...bye-bye's.
