Here’s the thing. If the company is buying shares, all they have to do is tell their broker how many they want and in what price range. Or what amount of money they want to spend.
This company has substantial resources at it’s disposal so a sustained buying campaign isn’t out of the question!
Then the trading desk at the brokerage will contact market makers directly and place orders with them directly on level three.
Level three gives you direct market access where you can buy directly from the market makers and cut out the brokerage house completely.
