I have not met anyone who complains about the gas price. It's about time gas went up, makes those electric vehicles so much better.

Well, you must not own a car. I'm retired, I'll never be able to afford a new car ever again, or even a used electric car. I'm stuck living with gas prices that are artificially high because we don't have to have gas this high with big oil and opec and their pals all concerted efforts to restrict their productions across the board. They are all in on the rape.
And big oil lies about what they were producing at the start of covid. US was producing almost 14% production, but they say 11% and now say they're almost back to 11 or 12, when in reality they are still cutting back on production, drilling and refinery operations to keep the barrel prices above 100. They stated a few months ago they wanted to keep the barrel up over 80. Well, they're doing a great job of it.

Not only can the oil companies triple bill us for product, refining, billing their own gas stations who pay the house for delivery, then pay the house again with percentage of the sales at the pump, but it's all owned and controlled the whole circle. Then they pass all the gas taxes straight to the citizens. The only ones I haven't heard complain are people riding bikes and don't own cars or don't have to drive to a job because they work at home or are retired and got rid of their cars years ago.

so, no, I totally disagree on this one. The gas prices didn't have to go up and put us back in the house because we can't afford to go anywhere now.

And it also may be true that some of the biggest speculator groups on the oil futures market are the oil companies themselves. Opec and US and others set the market prices through the commodities. None of that is a natural demand market.
