well, i finally made it up to the recently opened Mooresvile location. the owner was a middle aged guy from the area, and seemed very respectable, and the service was good. the location could have been a little better since the store doesn't face the main road, and the unit was too small to accommodate more than a dozen or so people for dining in. but, it was packed full when i was there around 8pm on Saturday night, and knowing that the Mooresville area is rapidly and steadily growing (partly thanks to Lowe's relocating their headquarters there), i have no doubt that franchise will do just fine with a primarily delivery based operation. the owner said that in retrospect a larger dining area would definitely be worthwhile, but all in all, he too thinks that delivery will provide plenty of business. he also owned stock, and was aware of its history, but i did not ask how much. i did ask about other locations opening in the surrounding areas, and he said he knew of a group of investors that was planning on opening another 2-4 locations in Cornelius, Matthews, and another Charlotte suburb. one thing i found kinda surprising was that he wasn't aware of anyone planning to open a location near uptown Charlotte, where I live. i would think that given UNCC's expected growth over the next few years (approaching 35,000 students), especially if they decided to start a football program, the university area would make for a flat out no-brainer. not to mention the fact that Charlotte in general is still one of the faster growing cities in the US, with an expected influx of 10-15k people into the uptown area alone this year. hell, maybe i'll get one. ;) as for the food itself, i personally was very pleased. we got a small western pizza that has an all ranch-based sauce, and although i wasn't a huge fan of it, my friends liked it and it was well prepared. we also got a couple of subs, and they were a consensus hit. good hearty italian bread, not the flimsy subway variety. no leftovers. overall, i would say that particular franchise looked to be a solid operation that should have no problem making some nice coin, that's my take. personally, i got in on this one strictly from the chart, which seems to show nothing but accumulation and consolidation over the past few months. so for me, seeing an actual franchise in action was more of a triviality, and it remains to be seen how the other planned franchises will look. as a result, i probably overlooked some aspects that others might have focused more on, and so if there are any particular questions about something i might have noticed and didn't mention, or maybe could ask the next time i pass by that area, just let me know. its about 30min from my house, so i won't be a regular, but i travel a lot anyways, and will try to make a detour every so often as long as i still hold some shares. hope this was at least a little helpful.
