Also, are you raising your grandson? If not, who cares what you want him to learn, respect boundaries. Keep your trap zipped and encourage him to do what his parents are teaching him. If they want him to be scared of guns and you go against that, or anything they teach him, be prepared to see a lot less of him.
And who said that teaching him fear is a good thing, anyway? You seem to be creating these straw men to knock down. The fact is, as previously posted, that guns are the leading cause of death amongst children his age, maybe he just has a healthy dose of common sense.
