Sigh. At the time, 16% seemed pretty good.
I’ve avoided bonds like the plague for many years.
Side note on the ‘70’s: Many companies cut back on their dividend payouts, so the “widows and orphans” funds suffered, as did the widows and orphans who counted on the payments.
We may see this problem again, although far, far fewer people have pensions these days.
