As to Fiddler on the roof. Everything old is new again. I watched it again a couple of years ago and it was impossible (for me) not to see the same manoeuvre played out again in our modern society.
Classically speaking, is where that film belongs. The underlying parallels I think will classically mirror society for eons. It's a great film, imo.
