I would still protect myself going forward, especially if you are in my age range of 71. The stock market has been adjusting itself to the reality that the republicans could at least control one branch of government, and that is all it takes. With one branch that could hamper the economic recovery, and like history has told us, they find new ways to fuck up everything.
Even now with Americans going back to work in the millions, and being able to change jobs so easily for better paying ones. All of this could come to a crashing halt come this November. That is all it takes, just one branch of government under republican control and each day they would find a new way to screw the American population.
