#411197 RE: Zorax #411195

Some folks take offense, I am not one of them. My self-picked moniker shortens to DD very naturally, so no worries. Regulars that are friendly generally use some shorthands that most of us understand and accept.

Feigning familiarity is something that can set off alarms, as when back-slapping salesmen do it. B4 tried feminizing my name to DeeDee to trigger me... it just made him look like a doofus; a schoolyard action if ever there was one. My real last name has a few extra consonants, so I am inured to people getting it wrong, and as a kid, having it changed into some pretty clever homophones.

It just doesn't always come off as friendly to some folks that have said as much, it is the only reason I mentioned it. Since there are only 2 (if they are indeed two people) that tellingly use the same "shorthands" for others in a certain way, it is quite a "tell".

Have I ever done it? Sure, and probably will again, but generally, when I do it, it is part of a program of flaming someone.
