Dennis: disingenuousness...
Oh, yes, Neuro, and may I say that's a neat piece of spinism on your own part, since we all know that the original challenge was to come up with figures for this country, and not the whole world.
Actually, the spin comes from the article Meme posted, but I didn't want to take the time to debunk it. Statistically speaking, there always must be a certain percentage of poor, a certain percentage of wealthy, and a larger percentage of those falling somewhere in the middle (in statistics those ranges are often measured by the standard deviation... you know about deviation don't you Dennis?).
We can talk about the evolution of technology, the extension of the average life span, and the infant mortality rate, but none of these factors significantly impact human nature. Eris was about to claim that one day we will have no wars, no need for commerce, and personal transporters to take us anywhere we want to go. She holds this view despite the fact that it was the continual fighting in the Middle East that started this thread.
This fanciful utopian view requires a massive shift from the violent, narrow-minded, overpossive, largely ignorant people that you and WEAC represent (sorry, I'm short on time and must combine this post and your subsequent reply). Get over your petty need for one-upmanship, drop the focus on verbal cat fights, and put away your rubber woman and at that point I'll concede that you have evolved.
