April 13 (Reuters) - Russia's defence ministry said on Wednesday that 1,026 soldiers of Ukraine's 36th Marine Brigade, including 162 officers, had surrendered in the besieged Ukrainian port city of Mariupol.
Mariupol, which has been encircled by Russian troops for weeks, has seen the fiercest fighting and the most comprehensive destruction since Russia invaded on Feb. 24

which has always been the position you have been poo-pooing as the West kowtowing to Putin threats.
Uh his security concerns keep neighbors from addressing theirs and then, Ukraine.. Pretty convenient for Putin....And a backwards logic The aggressors keeps his target from protecting themselves...Worked Damn well too I might add......Ask Zelensky just how well... I hope Finland and a Sweden Join NATO with their Middle finger raised high and proud, right in Putin's face...... (Strange timing me catching that subject on Maddow's show)
Again in your hoping about what Finland and Sweden will do you are looking at a complex situation in a very simplistic way.
Better to leave the decision to those who understand the complexities of the situation in much deeper depth than any of us do.
My impulse is also as yours, still in understanding there would be other consideration i'm unaware of i'm gonna leave that decision to them.
