It actually works more toward catering to every voter's preference than simple first past the post. Notice below, still i huge plus i think, no voting machines in Australia.
“Proportional” voting would reduce party polarization and the number of wasted votes.
To yours: Since democracy is defined as "rule by the people" and since "all" is not part of that, i guess it comes down, as the first reply to you suggested, how good a democracy any democratic country is.
