“We need to advance a diplomatic solution of the situation instead of further escalating the situation,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a news briefing.

Diplomacy eh,,,

China wants no intervention either,,,They may or may not give military support, but can anyone doubt they want Russia left alone with Taiwan in the future....

Preparing for Defeat

Not what you expected....

*1.Russia is heading for an outright defeat in Ukraine. Russian planning was incompetent, based on a flawed assumption that Ukrainians were favorable to Russia and that their military would collapse immediately following an invasion.

Russian soldiers were evidently carrying dress uniforms for their victory parade in Kyiv rather than extra ammo and rations. Putin at this point has committed the bulk of his entire military to this operation—there are no vast reserves of forces he can call up to add to the battle. Russian troops are stuck outside various Ukrainian cities where they face huge supply problems and constant Ukrainian attacks.

2.The collapse of their position could be sudden and catastrophic, rather than happening slowly through a war of attrition. >>>

5. The Biden administration’s decisions not to declare a no-fly zone or help transfer Polish MiGs were both good ones; they've kept their heads during a very emotional time.

It is much better to have the Ukrainians defeat the Russians on their own, depriving Moscow of the excuse that NATO attacked them, as well as avoiding all the obvious escalatory possibilities. The Polish MiGs in particular would not add much to Ukrainian capabilities. Much more important is a continuing supply of Javelins, Stingers, TB2s, medical supplies, comms equipment, and intel sharing. I assume that Ukrainian forces are already being vectored by NATO intelligence operating from outside Ukraine.

2. Lessons unheeded

Guerilla warfare and insurgency belongs to the home team.

Russian army fights like mercenaries.

They only fight like Stalingrad when they're in Stalingrad.

Suggest, comrade, refresher course in 1944 2.0.

Well, looks like he is about to get some. And if you think Russians are animals, these boys know no bounds.

Over 40,000 Syrians reportedly register to fight for Russia in Ukraine
Haley Ott - 3h ago

London — Over 40,000 Syrians have registered to travel to Ukraine and fight for Russia, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a Syrian non-governmental group. The group said Monday that no fighters had left Syria so far.

Among those being targeted for recruitment, SOHR said that a notice had been sent out to members of the Al-Qatarji militia — a group that has been sanctioned by the United States for serving as an intermediary between the Assad regime and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) — letting them know that they could sign up to be "mercenaries" for Russia in Ukraine.

If Putin needs to bring in Syrian fighters, there already has been an immediate effect on his military.

Ditto for asking China for help. Putin's desperation can be seen in the escalating insanity of his threats. From nuclear war to discontinuing gas sales to Europe, he's most determined to cut off his nose to spite his face.
