Wherever guns are outlawed and become forbidden fruit they become the tools of idiots and criminals. Raising our children guns and the proper respect for them, and at the same time removing their curiosity factor, gun crimes and accidents lessen.

I had many a friend who had a rifle hanging over the fireplace when growing up, not a one of us touched one of them either. There was also a gun cabinet in most homes proudly displaying their finest examples, and it was not uncommon to see one of these in the corner of a living room.

dffhogs - yep, and no one ever paid it any attention. There was never a problem and I never knew of anyone even taking the thing out of the truck at school.

But, we grew up understanding what the word 'responsibility' meant .. and not depending on the government to tell us to do the normal daily things one is just supposed to do... such as prepare yourself if a hurricane is coming ... you know, the really hard-to-figure-out stuff like that! LOL

BTW, where in AR if I might ask? I'm from the NE corner
