I failed to mention the company is running a study so they can get the contraceptive efficacy on label (below). The particular dose of relugolix is enough to totally shut down the reproductive axis much like Lupron so it is a foregone conclusion, but I guess need to run this for marketing (what a waste of resources to tell you something you already know)
the drug was already shown to inhibit ovulation 100% of the time
The companies must think this will help adoption, but I would think most practitioners would be comfortable knowing the patient doesn't need backup contraception.
PS: for endo pain control is so huge that even if they thought they needed contraceptin in addition it wouldn't make a huge difference IMO - it is mostly going to be used second line after oral contraceptives fail anyway
