Granted that they are not all on the same page, they nonetheless have shown enough strength in recent decades to essentially take over the Republican party, in partnership with fiscal ultraconservatives. This symbiosis is a serious threat to the future of this country. They oppose freedom of conscience for women, disdain science with regard to climate change and evolution, are not too keen for public education, and have a low regard for church-state separation and religious freedom for all. We should not sit back and give them a pass. -- Edd Doerr
