So why do people eventually get angry, eventually call for revolution, become willing to follow autocracy, fascism or even communism...
We do have history to look at, yet, we stumble down the path of history repeating and there is no answer or solution from the 'best and the brightest'.....
Suggest it's obvious that conservatives stand to benefit. They do it as an obvious tactic more so than others and they don't do it for Democrats benefit.

Though misinformation has been used to to create divide or confusion Whatever, forever Trump set the current environment alight with his "fake news" gambit. Anything he didn't like was fake news.
Though the tide has turned on on his games as those interested in an atmosphere where facts are more respected have turned the screws on him.
Those who still give money to Trump's people pay for it.
