Yes, it's hyperbolic, but a failure to indict him (and Bannon, and Jones, and Stone, and Flynn, and Giuliani, and Eastman, and Clark... and a host of others) is just going to invite more of the same.
If you can remember the Brooks Brothers riot in Florida in 2000 or the assault on the Michigan Statehouse this summer, the violent threats against election workers pretty much nationwide, then you can certainly draw a straight line through all of that, to the Jan 6 attack on the US Capitol.
And if the Union had surrendered Fort Sumter without a fight or conceded the point thereafter... well, that's kind of where we'd be if the Trump mob walks. And they will do this again.
So yes, it's hyperbolic, and my analogy may be imperfect... but it's not without merit.
