Well, I'm not positive but I think it was also the taliban with rigid rule were trying to rule the world as well. Now that they got afhanistan dropped into their laps instead of fighting to get it, now they have to fight to keep it.
Sorry, but it wouldn't bother me much if both those groups goat fuck themselves into oblivion. They're living proof, religious rule does not work.

Theocratic driven authoritarianism, my way or the highway and a decided prejudice against women's' rights are the common thread.
So one interest is more parochial the other more bent on Caliphate; neither hold out much hope for anyone who comes under their purview/heel and who disagrees with them.
