Nothing, as a matter of fact in 2000 and 2001, MSFT did this in a grand way and got caught having to take losses on these.

I believe DELL did this in a big way and lost quite a lot (think getting put to at 60 when the stock was at 20). But if your stock isn't incredibly overvalued, I'd guess it's generally a profitable strategy...
