zab: No, I didn't go to Vietnam. Did my 4 years in CA. I tell everyone that was as bad as Vietnam. And it is true, during the 60's & 70's CA was no place to be if you were in the military. You didn't dare wear your uniform into town. Had to drive a Air Force staff car into town a few times and when I did, I got more than few one finger peace signs. The local girls wouldn't date us. That is how I found out about "west pac widows." The papers had a running sheet of which ships were going out and the ones coming in. Still a few got caught with there pants down. I could tell a few stories about those.
Didn't know your cousin but I to lost a lot of buddies over there. More than a few came back fuck up in head and body. A kid that lived with us when we were young lost both legs over there. Never the same!!!
