Well Disney made Davy a hero but Davy was fighting for slavery. Mexico eliminated slavery earlier and Santa Ana ruled that Texas also could not have slaves but many white settlers and some Mexicans needed that free labor. So they said they were permanent indentured servants so Santa Ana said cannot have them more than ten years and then they are free. So that's what Davy was fighting for - slavery. That's why Texans are so proud of the Alamo.
